Vision Australia Library (formerly the Braille and Talking Book
Library) was established in 1894 to serve members of the blind community
in Victoria. Now, some 108 years later, the library continues to
provide braille services as well as audio books to over 8,500 readers
around Australia who are unable to read standard print.
The Awards were established in 1974 to encourage the production
of current Australian literature in braille and
audio formats for people with print disabilities.
The adult judging panel consists of Library borrowers. The young-adult
judging panel also consists of borrowers and students of Nazareth
College. We invite you to listen to excerpts from the Vision Australia
Library Awards audio book shortlist below. All titles have been
produced by Louis Braille Audio.
The Awards night was proudly sponsored by Bib Stillwell.
The Young Adult Audio Book and Narrator of the Year Awards was
proudly sponsored by Civica.
